10/6/11 (AEIN) Approximately eight thousand drop-side cribs sold in the United States were recalled by Yu Wei on Wednesday. The cribs have the potential to cause suffocation or strangulation, according to a recall issued by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled Lauren and Scroll cribs' drop-side rails may fall unexpectedly, malfunction or disconnect. They were manufactured during 2006 through 2010 and sold by J.C. Penney during the same period of time. The affected models include the Scroll model 343-8225 and Lauren model 343-9117. Both were made by the Yu Wei Company in Taiwan.
The CPSC urges the owners of the recalled models not to use the cribs until they have contacted the manufacturer to obtain a free repair kit. Customers may reach Yu Wei by dialing 877-806-8190 during weekday business hours (Central time) or emailing yuweiparts@aol.com.
