10/10/11 (AEIN) Many areas of the northeast U.S. and eastern Canada reported unusually warm temperatures on Sunday. Some of the warmest weather occurred in the New England states of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, where readings reached or surpassed the mid-80s.
In New York, Albany and Rochester reported highs of 81F degrees, while New York City hit 84F. Portland, Hartford and Concord, NH all attained high temperatures of 85F (29 C). The northern Maine city of Caribou reached 82F. Skies were clear with a warm breeze in central Maine.
Some parts of neighboring Canada also saw rather warm weather for early October. Highs reached 84F (29 C) degrees in Fredericton, 82F (28 C) in Toronto and 77F (25 C) in Charlottetown on Sunday. The capitol city Ottawa reported a high of 28C as well.
Forecasters predicted that the weather would become cooler in most parts of the northeast on Monday, but temperatures should remain quite mild. Some areas experiencing the warm weather had encountered early morning frost just a few days earlier.
